Rimecleaves are elite enemies that appear in the later stages of the game and tend to appear in colder climates. Rimecleaves resemble large cicadas or other form of insect, with the exception that they are humanoid and have two arms that wield quite a large axe. Their place in the world is not quite explained, but they make for lethal foes with the sharpness of their blade.

Rimecleaves have two actions they can perform: they can swing their axe and they can form an ice barrier. The axe of a rimecleave is deadly, dealing instant-kill levels of damage to most players. They swing their axes in a wide arc when attacking, which catches all creatures on all sides of it. The rimecleave can also form a ring of ice, capturing itself and at least one wizard. It creates smaller and smaller rings around itself and its target whenever it gets closer and closer. It does this so that it can hone in on the target and give it less room to run.

Strategy[ | ]

If the rimecleave wants you to get closer to it, do the opposite. Stay as far away from it as possible while hailing spells at it. If you are in a rimecleave's icy trap, try to get your allies to shoot throwable spells or spells that can go through objects like lightning wave or shadow beam at the rimecleave. Also, it surprisingly is not an ice elemental; freezing it is totally possible and highly recommended, but fire won't do any extra damage to it. If you can, try to lure other creatures into the rimecleave's vicinity and get it to attack you with its axe.
